  6. downloaded Thirst as a freebie on my Kindle, read it over the weekend and immediately had to know more. Found Taunted, finished today and want more!! Can’t wait for the next to be released. I love the way you have taken the craze with vampire novels to a higher level. Thank you!

  7. It was a good idea to make Thirst free, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have found it. How many more books will there be?

      • I’ve never read a sci-fi book with the premise or point of origin being from Ireland. I loved it and enjoyed every moment of it. At least for me the plot is very different from a lot of other books I’ve read. I tip my hat off to you, you’ve incorporated every paranormal character from Fae, Necromancer, seer, empath, succubus among others and you weaved it very uniquely. Like I said I’m looking forward to the 4th book…Happy New Year 😉

        • Thank you, and same to you. 🙂 I’m glad you enjoyed the Irish setting, it has been strangely entertaining for me to think about what kind of supernatural problems a small country like mine might have.

  10. Hey Claire your Ava dlaney series are amazing… they’re not like usual vampire books cause its more than vampires… there’s angels, wizards, fae, and sooooooo much more that seperates it from others and I just cant wait until the 4th book… I finished the third one and got to the epilouge and was so sad because it ended and I was going to get the 4th one but saw it wasent out so I found this website to find when it comes out and I’m so happy its coming out kinda soon!!! You are an amazing writer and i hope you never stop writing because you are truely amazing!!!! I don’t think I’ve ever liked a series this much. Thank you for sharing your amazing Peices of art with us!!:)

    • Thanks, Ashley! That’s cheered me up today. 😀 Glad you’re liking the rest of the gang as much as the vampire element. It’s what I like to read, so it’s what I end up writing. 🙂

            • If your even allowed to say:) lol

              • Don’t worry, Ashley. I’m my own boss. 😉

I originally planned six books, but it’s looking like the entire story arc will take seven. Although that might just be me not wanting to say goodbye to Ava. I’d like to keep writing about her, or at least writing stories in her world, but we’ll see how it goes.

I wanted to write a proper series about Ava, where stuff that happens in the first book leads to stuff that happens in the last book, that kind of thing. So definitely six, maybe seven, and *possibly* one or two standalone stories involving some of the characters afterward.

  11. I’m sorry about those messages I can barely read them so I’m starting a different conversation:)… a question about the setting… why Ireland?? What’s special about it????

    Reply
    • LOL. I’m not surprised. Stupid comment boxes making a long conversation look ridiculous. *Needs new blog*

I live there! So… super special to me. 😉 And also, there aren’t nearly enough books set in Ireland. An island is the best place for making up supernatural warfare. 😀

      • Wow!!! That’s so cool:) ha ha I know someone from Ireland:)that’s awesome:) so do you live in the same part of Ireland the storie takes place in? Or is it some place different??

  12. I’ve been an amature writer since I was a young kid. I finally got a Nook last summer and since then so many amazing new writers have emerged and YOU are one of them Claire! THANK YOU for doing what you have done with the Ava Delaney series. I am very much enjoying them and cannot wait until the 4th book Taken is released! I haven’t been involved in a series this much since Harry Potter. Thank you for giving me something else to look forward to! You are inspiring. And Ireland, is one of my favorite countries. So happy that the setting is there. I worked in a Celtic pub for a while, so that’s as close as I could get. Thanks again for making so many book worms around the globe happy.

    • Thanks for the lovely comment, Sharon. I’m glad you’re enjoying the stories and the setting. Yay, Ireland. And pubs are great for getting ideas about new characters. 😀

      Happy writing!

  23. Wow, I would like to firstly say, that reading all the lovely comments on this blog made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside! Claire, you have amazing fans =).
I have an addiction to reading, that’s the only way i can describe it. Once I get a book started I cant stop. All three books so far have taken about 5-8 hours each to read!
I so good to see another strong female lead taking on the world and even though there is a very slight love twist within the stories it is not a strong theme (even though I suspect this may change over the coming books with the way tempt ended).
Im so glad to finally find a book biased in Ireland. Even though Ive been brought up in England, my mother is Irish and i have strong connections to the country. Ive never fully decided where home is in my heart! It is such beautiful setting for the book.
I see the next one is due July/Aug.
As long as I can download it on the 3rd of July, it will make my birthday extra special!
I look forward to the release and plan to delve into some of your other series while I wait.
Ava has managed to fight her way in to my top female leads. Which other writers inspire you?
    Thank you!

    • How do you think they make me feel? 😀 I’m a bit of a book addict myself. Who needs sleep when you have to make it to the end of a book?

Yay for the Irish connections! It’s hard to say what writers inspire me, but of the entire urban fantasy genre, I would say I’m a huge fan of Patricia Briggs. I’m anxiously awaiting her next book for MY birthday. 😀

  24. Ms. Farrell, I spent all day yesterday in bed reading the 3 Ava Delaney books that are out right now. So lovely, and the Irish location is a nice change from the American cities I have become accustomed to in other Contemporary fantasy. Being a New Yorker, I am always interested in foreign cities…being an anglophile, Ireland suits me nicely. I am so glad that Carl made it, by the way. AND, that the whole Peter situation is heating up. Ava needs some love AND lovin’, right? Thanks for the lovely Saturday entertainment. Now I better work out before my bottom suffers…

    • Thanks for that. Glad you’re enjoying the books so far especially in regards to the boyos. 😀 And, ha! I’ve been working out today myself. I had to before my arse and the sofa got married. 😉

  25. I think this is the fastest i have ever read three books in. I could not stop reading. I read them all in two days, I couldn’t put them down. Fantastic books I love how you write, you become part of the books when you read them and I definately got emotional a few times. I can not wait till Taken comes out!!

  26. Haha..so I thought I would stop in here and see what you were saying about the realease date. Ugh..it’s going to seem so long to wait, but I am going to check out your other books while I wait. You say 6-7 books to this series!?! How cool is that! I know this will be a series I read over and over. And yes, I could see this series as a mini series on television as well. 🙂 Keep up the good work Claire…I love your books!

    • Yeah… each book is getting longer, and there are more books to refer back to, so it’s getting longer to finish each one now. I’m getting there! In hindsight, writing two series at the same time was a little silly, but thankfully *some* people are patient. 😛

Yep @ 6-7 books. I always planned for three to six short books, but it’s kind of run away with itself a little, so I’ll probably need a seventh to tie up absolutely everything. Of course, there are other stories in the world that I would love to write – some characters who show up briefly in Taken (and Taunt) have their own story that I would love to tell, but it all takes time, so who knows what will happen. Honestly, I would love to write about Ava forever, but that’s just me. 😀

  27. Gotta say, I LOVE YOUR BOOKS! I got hooked with Thirst as a freebie for Kindle, then absolutely had to have Taunt and Tempt. I was so sad to find out that there wasn’t another to read that I decided to check out Verity even though werewolves usually aren’t my thing. Loved it! I can’t wait to get the next of both series. You are a great writer and I hope to see LOTS more books from you in the future. =)

  28. I am OBSESSED – I read the series in 2 days, it was hard to stop! Thank you for making Thirst a freebie, that is why I began reading the series – I have to admit! It is so hard for me to commit to buying a book, for some odd reason. When I see a free book, especially in a series, I download it in a heartbeat. As the author though, I’m sure it sucks to have one of your books be a give-away, but as a reader it was impossible NOT to purchase #2 and #3. So, overall, it’s a great strategy for people with commitment issues. I cannot wait for book 4, and I am going to start reading Verity in the meantime. You are a talented lady, thank you for these books!

    Reply
    • Thanks for checking out the books, Eileen.

It doesn’t suck at all. Honest! The biggest commitment is the time it takes to read a book. I’m actually really grateful for anyone doing that. Thirst will be free forever, as far as I’m concerned. 🙂 I know that I like having a free or super cheap book to sample a new writer, so I figured it was a good thing to do. I don’t regret it for a second. 😀

I hope one day i can be as good a writer as you! 🙂

  48. I love your series about Ava and feel that I’m with her as she goes through all of her emotional ups and downs. I read the first three books in four days as I was forced to put my kindle down to go out :(. All I wanted to do was to stay put and find out what would happen next. I can’t wait for the forth book to come out in a few months. I’ve seen that your planning on written either 6 or 7 books but I was wondering how long it would take to complet the series. I hope it won’t take you too long as I NEED to keep reading and find out what else Ava will face. I love writting stories but don’t have a lot of confidence in my abilities, I’ve a started a story on Wattpad and was wondering if you had any tips for me. Love your work and will look forward to new series you write and possible seeing this as a tv series.

    • Hey Hannah.

If nothing major goes wrong then I’m pretty sure the series will end next year. Which month is another question. 😉

Just keep writing and reading and figuring out what it is you want to write about. That’s all you can do. The more you write, the easier it gets. The more you read, the better you are at seeing what works and what doesn’t. Figuring out what you really want to write about just helps you actually finish the story.

      Best of luck. 🙂
